Jasper More
BAPTIZED: August 8, 1613/Shipton, Shropshire, England
DIED: December 6, 1620/Provincetown Harbor
Jasper More, and his three siblings, Richard, Ellen and Mary, had sad beginnings in the New World. The More children, aged four to eight, had been placed with the Brewster, Carver, and Winslow families in 1620 by their father, who had divorced their mother for infidelity and believed the children were not his. Jasper was put with John and Katherine Carver and accompanied them aboard the Mayflower.
Richard was the only one of the More children to survive into adulthood. Jasper died in early December while the Mayflower was still anchored at Cape Cod Bay. Ellen and Mary also died that first winter.
