A docent is a volunteer trained in
guiding visitors in a 1-hour tour of Pilgrim Hall Museum.
A docent is an articulate and enthusiastic member of a Museum team, offering visitors a
warm welcome and an intelligent introduction to the Pilgrim story and its significance. A docent is a teacher, an explainer, a
questioner, an enthusiast.
What is
required? A commitment to learn, a
commitment to spend time, a commitment to share. What is provided? A community of friendly, stimulating,
interesting and interested volunteers;
and training sessions and an on-the-job apprenticeship to
introduce you to the Pilgrim story and the artifacts that illuminate that story.
What is your reward? An opportunity to meet and greet
and interact with visitors of all ages from all around the world.
There
is always something new to see and do and share!
